The Schirmer Tear Test estimates the amount of tears produced in the eye and evaluates whether the eye is being kept moist. In this case it is being used in canine ophthalmology to determine whether a diagnosis of Keratoconjunctivis sicca (KCS) is appropriate. Aqueous values lower than 5 mm/min would be indicative of KCS in dogs.
